  From January through September this year, 69 container ships had to wait more than 100 hours to transit the Panama Canal. During the same period last year, that number was just 13. That’s more than five times as many ships facing long delays. The Panama Canal Authority raised the daily transit limit back to 33 ships on October 15 and eased draft restrictions.
