A Series of Seizures on US Routes: Stop Gambling on Compliance

With two consecutive seizures on US routes, goods worth tens of millions have gone down the drain – business owners, stop relying on luck

Hello everyone, I’m Alice from Sunny Worldwide  Logistics. There have been two major developments on the US route recently, and I’d like to take a minute to discuss them with you. Firstly, a warehouse in Los Angeles was raided, and nearly 26,000 counterfeit items were seized, including products from brands such as ‘X’ and ‘Y’. Based on the retail price of genuine goods, the value of the goods exceeds US$10 million. The warehouse manager is already under scrutiny. Although no one has been arrested as yet, the investigation into the source of the goods and the allocation of responsibility will inevitably continue. Secondly, Baltimore Customs has seized over 8,500 sheets of Chinese plywood.

 What was the problem? The importer’s identity was false, and the invoices had been altered. Although the goods were clearly manufactured in China, they were deliberately transhipped via a third country solely to evade anti-dumping duties.

 CBP has now confirmed the violation, and the case remains under investigation. Viewed together, these two incidents send a very clear signal: US Customs is no longer conducting random spot checks;

 instead, it is carrying out comprehensive, routine and retrospective investigations across the entire supply chain. With the new IOR policy now in force and the crackdown on counterfeiting intensifying, compliance is no longer a question of ‘whether or not to do it’—it is a matter of ‘if you don’t comply, your goods won’t be cleared’.

At Sunny Worldwide Logistics, we have one simple principle: only with authentic documentation, clear declarations and legitimate channels can goods be shipped smoothly. When shipping, do not leave it to chance – compliance is the absolute minimum requirement. Sunny Worldwide  Logistics – looking out for shippers even more than the shippers themselves. Follow us to gain a deeper understanding of the essence of international trade through the lens of logistics. Thank you all!
